Zine Web Hosting Magazine) – The cyberterrorist group that claimed responsibility for hacking Sony’s computer network, called the FBI “an idiot” in a YouTube video, according to an unreleased alert obtained by The Intercept and further threatening to target an unnamed news media organization, referred to as “USPER2”. Sources consider “USPER2” to be CNN, (Sony has been referred to as “USPER1”) though the threat extended to other such organizations in the near future.
Over 100 terabytes of employee information, executive emails and copies of unreleased films were estimated to have been stolen during the Sony Hack on November 24, 2014, and the threat of release has been used as a terror tactic to prevent Sony Pictures from screening “The Interview”, which is a comedy about the assassination attempt of North Korea’s leader Kim Jong-un.
US officials considered that North Korea was responsible for the hack and subsequent threats on December 17th, with the North Korean news agency KCNA denying the “wild rumors” and offered to be a joint probe into determining the hackers’ identities.
Recently, this theory has come under fire by many journalists and security experts such as Kurt Stammberger, senior vice president of cybersecurity firm Norse, stating “Sony was not just hacked; this is a company that was essentially nuked from the inside. We are very confident that this was not an attack master-minded by North Korea and that insiders were key to the implementation of one of the most devastating attacks in history.”
